Palm oil is one of the world’s most produced and consumed oils. This cheap, production-efficient, and highly stable oil is used in a wide variety of food, cosmetic and hygiene products, and can be used as a source for biofuel or biodiesel. Palm oil is one of the world’s most produced and consumed oils. The land clearing cases in Sumatra Island causes multiple adverse impacts to the environment, surrounding society, and to the business, itself. The 2015 Southeast Asian haze was an air pollution crisis affecting several countries in Southeast Asia. More than 28 million people in Indonesia alone were affected by the crisis, and more than 140,000 reported respiratory illness. Indonesia and Malaysia dominate global palm oil production. Indonesia is the largest producer and exporter of palm oil worldwide. In Indonesia, the oil palm plantation and palm oil processing sectors have become a crucial part of Indonesia’s economy. While in Malaysia, the oil palm plantation only spread throughout Sabah and Sarawak areas, but the production is only 1% below Indonesia, which has an amount in total 15,8 thousand tons.
